What other people throw away, is often found to be of use to somebody else. How can the way we value the objects in our world be so different? How can it be that the treasure available to find, in second hand stores and car boot sales, has been previously deemed ready to be discarded? Just because somebody no longer has a requirement for something, does not mean that item is worthless. The same applies to the people and a certain situation in your world right now. You can be grateful, and let go.
