They say you can pick your friends… And you can pick your nose… But you cannot pick your friend’s nose! Who are they to decide what level of intimate caretaking you are capable of? Or is this phrase meant the other way, to remind us that we do not get to choose for other people what they do or how they are? No matter how good your intentions are, or how well meaning your superior knowledge is, you cannot force somebody to help themselves today. They have to choose it for themselves. In the meantime, focus on things that you can decide upon for yourself.
