When people suggest that you have to be cruel to be kind, they often misunderstand the concept. Unless, of course, by “cruelty,” they mean establishing and maintaining consistent boundaries. Even in that case, the word isn’t quite right! Is it possible that what appears to be uncaring behaviour is merely a facade adopted by someone who feels vulnerable? Today, be brave enough to see what is truly going on underneath the surface.
